TEXT: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept my word, and have not denied my name" (Rev 3:8)
Father, we thank you for the gift of another day. The purpose of God for our lives today shall materialise before the day is over, in Jesus name.
I will like to bring to your notice that every promise of scriptures always leaves us with one or more conditions to meet. No promise of scripture is automatic. No, not one!
Although these conditions have been largely met by Jesus but still demanded that our part be played to see them come to pass in our lives. Until we play our part in the matter of kingdom promises, God is not committed. For example, salvation, the greatest miracle of all, was not possible without our believing and receiving. The Bible says: "For by grace are you saved through faith..." (Eph 2:8). So, salvation came by grace but you must believe and receive it by faith to be saved.
Looking at today's anchor scripture, there are certain qualities I noticed in the church at Philadelphia that prompted Jesus to set before them an open door. I'll be examining these qualities from today. Pls I will like you to pay close attention to these qualities as the Holy Spirit takes us through them.
The first word that Jesus said concerning this Church is what I want us to examine today. He said concerning them: "I KNOW YOUR WORKS." What an expression of satisfaction from Jesus concerning this Church! Jesus told them that He knows their works. But which works was Jesus talking about? He was referring to the way they stood for the work of God even in their times of difficulties. This Church stood in moment of trial to work for God not minding their situation and difficulties. That is the work Jesus was talking about. The difficult situation they were facing at that time did not make them to reduce their availability in the matter of the kingdom of God.
Beloved, I want you to examine yourself today. Can Jesus say the same thing concerning you today? Are you not treating the work of God with levity because you are experiencing a down moment? Are you excusing yourself from the work of God (evangelism, prayer, fasting, etc) simply because of your present situation? Hmmm, you are throwing away the goose that lays the golden egg unknowingly. Be addicted to the work of God dear child of God and God will raise men that will work for you.
How do you work for God in the context of our study today? It's to be an extension of the kingdom of God on earth by reaching out to the sinners, the hungry, the sick, the naked, the outcast and the downcast around you. When you are available for God to use to reach the unreached in the society, you are extending His kingdom on earth and that is the work that attracts open doors.
Jesus fulfilled this ministry while on earth. The sick, the hungry, the downtrodden, the rejected, etc, was the center of Jesus' ministry on earth. He is saying to you and me that as my Father has sent me, so send I you. Will you be available? This is one of the qualities that guarantee open door.
PRAYER: Receive grace to be an extension of the kingdom of God on earth in Jesus name.
DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I will continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
