TEXT: "And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams" (1Sam 15:22)
Let me start this morning by saying that there is no point for you to ask God for open door if you're not ready to obey divine instructions that will lead you to that open door. Obedience is an essential part of our walk with God, it determines the outcome of our lives. Obedience to God is a proof our love for Him. Jesus said: "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15).
Jesus Christ, our perfect example of obedience was obedient unto death. "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross" (Phil 2:8). He humbled Himself in obedience to God and died a criminal death on the cross. Taking up our cross and following Jesus calls for our obedience. Today's anchor scripture states that obedience is better than sacrifice.
Saul had been commanded to utterly slay all the Amalekites and their cattle. Instead of him doing so, he preserved the king, and suffered his people to take the best of the oxen and of the sheep. When called to account for this, he declared that he did it with a view of offering sacrifice to God. But Samuel met him at once with the assurance that such sacrifices were no excuse for an act of direct rebellion to God. Disobedience is an act of rebellion. God honours the one who obeys His instructions. Those who ignore prophetic instructions but wait for Prophetic declarations will never possess their possession.
I like you to hear this one: "God tests our obedience in form of prayer and fasting instruction or in form of giving instruction." Many see giving as a away of helping God or servants of God. Listen! God does not need your prayer to exist or your money to fulfill His mission on earth. All these are tests of our obedience and love for Him. We are the ones who need God, for without Him we can do nothing.
You must believe the Prophet and obey the instructions when they are given! Following God's prophetic instructions can be so inconvenient for the flesh, but a genuine child of God will obey without hesitation. Until you obey a prophetic instruction don't expect miracles in your life. No shortcut no matter how many prophets you go to for prayer. So, is there any instruction you are yet to obey? Examine yourself!
PRAYER: I pray for the release of grace for tireless obedience to prophetic instructions, in Jesus name.
DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I will continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
