TEXT: "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him..,in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14)

One of the keys that open fresh doors as mentioned yesterday, is prayer. Any closed door that cannot resist the Power of God cannot resist the power of prayer. But there's need for us to know how to pray effectively. The disciples of Jesus Christ came to Him demanding that He teaches them how to pray with results. "And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say,.." (Lk 11:1-2). It is not enough to pray but we must seek to know how to pray with results.

To pray effectively, with results, I recommend you to listen to messages of some proven men of God on prayers.

One of them said: "An effective prayer is a prayer of declaration." Prayer of declaration is simple, short, powerful but comes from the depth of the knowledge of the word of God and our rights in redemption. For instance, your child is having a fever, you don't need to shout from pillar to post or roll on the floor to pray for him/her, all you need is just to declare: “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, fever go." Looking at the four gospels, when Jesus performed miracles, He did not pray three hours prayers on the people before miracles happened. For instance, when He wanted to raise Lazarus who was dead for four days back to life, He only said "Lazarus come forth." Beloved, let's engage the prayer of declaration for our expected miracle.

If prayer of declaration is as simple and powerful as I say, why then do we experience delay in some of our prayers? Mark 11:23-24 proffer solution to that (Pls read it). If you want answers to your prayers, you have to keep on speaking till what you desire happens. Let's use the case of a blind man who came to Jesus for healing in Mark chapter ten to illustrate the point I'm trying to make. Jesus asked him what he wanted Him to do. "And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight" (Mark 10:51).

There’s a purpose why Jesus asked the blind man this question. From that story, you will notice that the blind man threw away his garment when he ran to Jesus. Every blind man in Israel had a special garment he puts on to indicate that he is blind and therefore entitled to some privileges from the government. So Jesus asked him what he wanted Him to do to be sure he was willing to give up those privileges a blind man had. He threw away his garment indicating that he was willing to embrace his healing as against the privileges for his blindness.

The reason God sometimes wants us to keep on asking in prayers is for us to be sure we are certain of the thing we want. So, I urge you this morning not to give up praying. Pray until something happens. If what you pray for has not come, don't give up. Don't be tired of praying because God is not tired of listening!

PRAYER: Your prayers hitheto are declared answered today in Jesus name.
