THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD

TEXT: "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high" (Luke 24:49).

This is a week to be much watched out for in the Morning Tea Devotional family. I say this because God told me that He shall be releasing fearful blessings among us. You and I shall be partakers of these, in Jesus name.

God always releases His Power on us to overcome difficulties in life. Before His ascension, Jesus told His disciples (by extension you and I) in today's anchor scripture to wait on Him in Jerusalem for the release of His Power before embarking on anything for Him. He also assured them (us) when He said: "And you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

As beloved children of God, we need the enabling Power of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious life in this world. The power that be won't stop to disturb you until the Power of the highest overshadow you. This means that the Power of God is vital for the challenges that we face when we decide to live for God. And, certainly this Power that Jesus speaks about here is not and should not be a one-time thing. In fact, the Bible talks about how the disciples repeatedly sought God from time to time for the continuous empowering.

For instance, the book of Acts 2:4 said that they were "all filled with the Holy Spirit." And after that experience, they came back to God for a refreshing against the new threats that they were facing. "And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken and they were all filled with the Spirit and spoke the word of God with boldness" (Acts 4:31).

So, haven known that we all need the Power of the Holy Spirit to live a triumphant life, let's consider ways to receive this Power:

EAT THE WORD OF GOD DAILY

God equips you and I with His power to enable us to live successfully in life. Therefore, it is important that we soak ourselves in the Word of God, which is life in itself. In John 6:63, Jesus said: "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." The Bible is the Word of God and when you read it, you are reading the life-giving power of the Spirit. By soaking yourself in God’s word, you activate your faith that helps you to walk in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

So, if we are going to obtain fullness of Power in life, we must daily feed upon the Word of God, the Bible. There is no other food so strengthening as the word of God. If we will not take time to study the Bible, we cannot have Power, any more than we can have physical power if we will not take time to eat nutritious food. Never underestimate the power of God’s Word to bring change in your life. The Bible says: "So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty--handed. They'll do the work I sent them to do, they'll complete the assignment I gave them" (Isaiah 55:11 - MSB). God’s Word can bring change in your life when nothing else can or will. To be empowered, spend time with God studying His word.

PRAYER: This week, the power of God's word shall break every chain that's holding any area of your life down, in Jesus name.

DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I shall continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
