TOPIC: FREEDOM FROM GUILT

TEXT: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1John 1:9)

I welcome you to a week of testimonies. Get set because this week what you've asked God in prayer and fasting shall begin to manifest one after the other, in Jesus name. 

Last Friday, I pointed out that there are lots of people who are suffering from depression because of failure in their walk with God and with people around them. The fact is that many of those people who erred in one way or the other are still suffering from guilts, their self esteem and confidence before God is now reduced to zero. Is this happening to you right now? Hear me today, when you are honest to yourself in acknowledging your mistakes, failures and shortcomings, go on your knees and confess them genuinely to God and be ready to forsake and move on (Pro 28:13). Once you have acknowledged and repented of your sin by your confession, then you must be ready to accept God’s promise of restoration. Today's anchor scripture says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Please understand that God does not want you to torture yourself continually for the sin which He has already forgiven you. You don’t need to keep beating yourself for mistakes He has already forgiven and forgotten. God forgives you the moment He sees your genuine repentance. Though people around you will draw their conclusions about you, but it does not do you any good to continue in self-punishment. Jesus told that woman in the Bible: "Neither do I condemn you but go and sin no more" (John 8:11).

Humble yourself before the Lord. Learn from your failures and in the words of the merciful Saviour, Jesus Christ I want to say to you: “go and sin no more.” This is what makes your restoration guaranteed.
