TEXT: "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" (Isaiah 43:2).
I want to begin this morning by saying storms are real to life, but much more real is our victory. What must I do to gain victory over the storm in my life should be your preoccupation.
Let's take the life of Abraham in Romans 4:17-22 as a case study. Abraham did not have a child for many years. How did he handled his own storm? The Bible says: "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Heb 6:12). We can learn what to do when we're in stormy situation by following the steps of Abraham. If he overcame his storm, you will overcome your own, in Jesus name.
What did he do?
(1) HE BELIEVED IN HOPE.
The scripture says Abraham "who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations... (Rom 4:18). In any storm you are in, be hopeful that victory is sure. We have mention this before, but we need to say it again "For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion (Eccl 9:4). A hopeless person is far from being victorious. Beloved, hold on with hope.
(2) HAVE FAITH IN GOD
Have faith in God that you will overcome the storm no matter how raging it may be. Jesus said, "Don't let your heart be trouble..." (John 14:1). Faith enables you to see what to do next in that storm. It is not the time to be anxious or fearful. Believe that God will do what He said He would do. Victory is yours!
PRAYER: The peace that surpasses understanding shall guard your heart always, in Jesus name.
