TEXT: "Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided that we should sail on, hoping to reach Phoenix and winter there. This was a harbor in Crete, facing both southwest and northwest" (Acts 27:12 NIV).
Yesterday, we mentioned one of the common mistakes we often make in life that bring trouble. This mistake is that we take counsels from men more serious than the instructions from God. Reason could be that those counsels are appealing to human senses. But how wrong are we most times?
(2) Doing what many people are doing. We often follow the crowd to do what they do. Today's anchor scripture says "the majority decided that they should sail." Understand also that the majority can be wrong. Are you in that business, or what you're doing right now because majority are doing it? The majority is not you beloved. We often get into trouble following crowd to do what they do. The children of Israel would have forfeited the Promised Land had they followed the decision of the majority to go back to Egypt. Could this be the reason behind the trouble in your life? You are free today in Jesus name.
(3) Another mistake is that we allow circumstances of life to lead us. They that are led by the Spirit of God, not by circumstances are the sons of God (Rom 8:14). Verse 13 of today's text in KJV says: "When a gentle south wind began to blow, they thought they had obtained what they wanted." They thought it was a nice day to sail. We sometimes feel if the circumstances are just right we can go ahead. No. Don't make any move until you know the go ahead signal is from God, else you are heading for a storm.
PRAYER: I decree today, every storm in your life be stilled, in Jesus name!
