TEXT: "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock" (Matt 7:24).
To turn your trial into triumph, you must be a Doer Of The Word. If you will overcome the storms of life, don't just read or hear the word, be ready to act on it. The Bible says: "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves" (Jam 1:22). The word of God does not work because you hear or read it, it works because you apply it to your situation. It's like Windex (a window cleaner containing detergent and ammonia), it doesn't clean the windows while in the bottle, you have to spray it, and then you have to rub the window until it becomes spotless.
Beloved, just because you've got God's Word inside of you doesn't mean it will work for you. You have to apply it to each situation you find yourself. Don't just be a hearer of the word, be a doer also. "For if anyone is a hearer of the Word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; For he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was" (Jam 1:23).
The Bible is referred to as a mirror. When you look into the Word, you see who you really are in Him. Look into the Word and apply it to your situation. For instance, on Sunday in the church, you say, "I'm more than conqueror" and on Monday you encounter challenge, you've got to look in the mirror again and shout it out louder, "I'm more than conqueror."
Storms in life will come, but don't let the storms bring fear or unbelief, instead, count it all joy when you fall into various trials and be sure to act on the Word.
PRAYER: Receive grace to be a doer of God's word in Jesus name!
