TEXT: "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered" (1Pet 3:7)

I pointed out yesterday that prayer is a powerful key that can unlock heaven over anyone any day and anytime. Heavens will always open over the head of the one who knows how to pray. The Bible says in Jeremiah chapter 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show you great and mighty things which thou knowest not." Prayer is a key given to us to enjoy open heavens. But answer to our prayer can also be hindered by many factors. One factor is a lifestyle of iniquity. I will elaborate on this another day.

A turbulent marriage will hinder your prayers and stop the flow of God’s abundance into your life by shutting the heaven over you. Another version of today's anchor scripture says: "In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat her with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. If you don't treat her as you should, your prayers will not be heard" (1Pet 3:7 - NLT). The relationship of a married couple can be very powerful in the spiritual realm. It can also be a great hindrance if the relationship is not right. This is why the devil does all he can to come between couples and make their relationships sour. To the married who may be reading this devotional today, pls do all you can to deepen your relationship with your spouse, fight for one another and quickly reconcile when ever there is strife or disagreement so that your prayers will not be hindered.

This is not only true in marriage. The way you interact with other family members, friends, neighbours and co-workers is also important if you desire to live under open heavens. Jesus said, “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” (Matt 5:23-24). Jesus was saying in essence that before you go to God in prayer, do your best to make things right with anyone who thinks you have wronged them or who had wronged you in anyway. It doesn’t mean they are necessarily right, but if they think you have wronged them, do your best to make amends with them. It is up to them if they will accept your apology or not. You must simply make a sincere attempt before God and the rest is up to them. As we try to maintain godly relationships with all we know, we will see our prayer life flourish.

PRAYER: Today I decree peace to all turbulent marriages and unhealthy relationships, in Jesus name.

DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I will continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
