TEXT: "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matt 16:26)

Profit is what everyone desires in life. Nobody prays for loss in any area of existence, either in career, business, work or Ministry. Profit means to have more output than your input in life, business or ministry. Biblically speaking, it is to enjoy more of God's blessing. But it is vital we understand what constitutes profit in life and how to make it. The Spirit of God shall be revealing these and more to us as we proceed in the month. Jesus in today's anchor scripture said: “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul…” (Matt 16:26). The implication of what Jesus said is that, having more of the earthly things does not necessarily means profit. So, we must avoid the risk of getting our priorities wrong at this juncture.

In the same vein, Jesus was pointing out that our soul is more valuable than having things the world could offer! The soul of a man comprises the mind, the will and emotion. To make profit in any area of our existence, we must be healthy in these three aspects of human soul. This is because, a man that has mental health challenge for instance will not be considered to be enjoying profits in life even if he has a lot of material possessions.

So, what are the required steps we must take to enjoy profit in all areas of our existence?

(1) KNOW YOUR PURPOSE

When you don’t know your purpose or you are operating outside your purpose for living, you can never make profits in life. Your purpose is your reason for living. Jesus's reply to Pilate when He was asked whether He was the King was: "Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice" (John 18:37). From this scripture, it is clear that everyone of us was born to fulfill a purpose on earth. We are born to contribute our own qota while alive.

Hear me child of God, the shortness of time we have on earth demands that we live deliberately on our divine assignment (Another word for purpose is divine assignment). The truth is that, it is not the kind of house we lived in, the expensive clothes we wear or the car we drove that matters, but to what extent did we fulfil the purpose of our existence on earth? You may have all the material blessings the world could offer and still live outside God's agenda for your life. Your purpose guarantees your profit in life.

So, what is your reason for living, especially for the year 2022? If you haven't known yet, go to God in prayer today and sincerely tell Him to show you His purpose for your existence. This is because your purpose helps you to move with focus and wherever there is focus, there will be speed and focus with speed sponsors profit in life!

PRAYER: I pray for you, your life will not be wasted in pursuit of wrong things, in Jesus name.
