TEXT: "But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness" (1Tim 6:11)
God's word is full of God's instructions which when followed wholeheartedly make our lives profitable. The Bible says that: "All scripture is profitable..." This meaning is that God's word is full of divine instructions which when we obey them makes us to enjoy all round profits.
In today's anchor scripture is God's commandment to us, and the Bible says His commandments are not grievous, they are absolutely for our benefits. We're to flee these things and follow after the things that can make life profitable. One of the things that we must follow after as mentioned in the above scripture is godliness. What you follow after determines what follows you after. No one follows God and end in shame and reproach. To live in godliness is to be full of God in all our dealings. The gains of godliness outweigh the smartness of the smartest. It has unmatchable benefits.
At this juncture, we need to understand what godliness is. The word godly is a two sided coin, one side has to do with reverence, and the other side has to do with fear. So a godly person is someone who fears God, in other words they have a great reverence for God. Beloved, the truth is that if you are a godly person there are some things that you will be uncomfortable to do because you don’t want to offend God. There are some places you won't be able to go and there are some companies you can't keep. This is what helped Joseph to escape all the traps of the devil on his way to the top. If you're a godly person, your concern for the truth will always lead you to demonstrate your integrity with honesty and transparency.
As a godly person, your desire should be to live a clean and whole life free from corruption and compromise. Your desire for godliness will always lead you to avoid and resist temptations that would pollute or weaken your character. Fighting for godliness helps you strive for a blameless reputation before God and others, as displayed in your words and actions. You have a sincere singleness of mind as you honour what is sacred to God and decent in the sight of others.
However, there are repercussions if you choose to live ungodly lifestyle. One of the repercussions (dangers) of ungodliness is that it hinders one's destiny from manifesting. Hear me child of God, the ungodly act that you involve in will cost you your destiny if you don't stop it. There are so many people today whose destiny has been destroyed due to ungodliness. Joseph's destiny would have been destroyed if he went in with the wife of his boss.
At some point in life, our righteousness will be tested. We must endeavour to stand and keep standing come what may. One of the best ways we can keep standing is through the fear of God. Joseph feared God; that was why he couldn't do what his master’s wife begged of him. He said, “There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
PRAYER: That sin will not burry your destiny. You are free from it today, in Jesus name.
DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I will continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
