FOUNDATION FOR EFFECTIVE PRAYER

TEXT: "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination" (Prov 28:9)

I want us to begin the theme for this month (Answered prayers) by first laying a proper foundation. This is because the foundation of any building determines its durability, strength and efficiency. The foundation for effective prayer. Many are frustrated today because this foundation is ignored.

Listen, there are people that God will never hear their prayers even if they cut themselves with knives like the prophets of Baal. They are those who turn away their ears from the gospel. They continue in sins despite all warnings.

The Psalmist says "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."

Iniquity is a stumbling block to  prayers. There is no amount of prayer a sinner prays that will get God's attention except his prayer of repentance. Salvation is a guarantee for answers to prayer. If you are not saved you are only making noise to God in prayer. The foundation of salvation must be laid now if you will experience answers to your prayers this month.

Are you saved or you are just a church goer? Are you sure of where you are going if the trumpet sounds now? If you are not saved even if you are a title holder in your church, you're still lost. Do you want to be saved now? Say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner; forgive me my sins, cleanse me with your blood. I believe you died for me and on the third day you rose again that I might be justified. I accept you today as my Lord and Saviour; thank you for saving me from the power of sin. Now, I am born again.
