Job 42:10 "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before."
One of the secrets to answered prayer is standing in the gap for others on the altar of prayer. Don't let all your prayer centres on I, me, mine, myself alone. Such type of prayers proceeds from
a heart that is spiritually selfish. Note this that the primary purpose of prayer is not to change THINGS in our lives but to change US. One of the things that needs to change in us is our selfish nature and praying for other people will do just that. There are people that will never see the need to pray for the needs of other people because they are full of their own needs. That is spiritual immaturity.

Intercession provides a way to love and serve people. Praying for others slowly destroys the seed of self-centeredness that keeps us from being like Jesus. Understand that behind every earthly conflict in the life of anyone is the devil and God is inviting each of us to partner with whosoever is in such situation for his/her victory. Prayer of intercession is to “long for what is best for someone else before God."
Prayer should not be about us, our needs, our sins alone. We must also bring before God what we think is best for someone else. This is one of the ways to move God to answer our own prayers. That was the key to Job's turnaround in the above scripture. This also is what prompted MTD Prayer Throne Room platform, a platform to pray and be prayed for.
