Prov 28:9 "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination."

I want us to begin the subject of prayer by laying a proper foundation. The foundation of any building determines its durability, strength and efficiency; so also is the foundation for effective prayer.

Many are frustrated because this foundation is ignored. If this aspect is dealt with, every other thing is settled.

There are people that will never be heard by God when they pray even if they cut themselves like the prophets of Baal. These are the people that turn their ears away from the gospel in disobedient to God. They have decided to live in their sins despite the warnings. King David says "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." Iniquity is a reason for many unanswered prayers.

There's no amount of prayer a sinner will pray that will get God's attention except prayer of repentance. This means salvation is what guarantees the returns of answers to our prayers. If you are not saved you are only making noise to God. Right foundation must be laid now if you will experience waves of answers to your prayers. The foundation is your salvation. Are you saved? Are you sure of where you are heading if the trumpet should sound now? If you are not sure even if you are a member of a Church, you are not saved. Now is the right time to make a decision to follow Jesus. 

Say this prayer from your heart: "Lord Jesus, I am a sinner; forgive my sins, cleanse me with your blood. I believe you died for me and on the third day you rose again that I might be justified. I accept you today as my Lord and my Saviour. Thank you for saving me.
