James 4:3 "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."

Another point I must not fail to mention if we will see answers to our prayers is "Right Motive." We need to set our motives right for God to attend to our prayers. You ask and don't receive because you ask to consume it upon your lust - that speaks of wrong motive. Wrong motive makes a man to pray amiss and when prayer is not in line with God's agenda, there will be delay in the answer.

Let me illustrate this with the story of the lame man at the beautiful gate in Acts chapter 3. He asked for what he wanted (alms) but Peter gave him what he needed (healing). He asked for alms when what he needed is healing. That is what it means to ask amiss. Thank God for the grace of God that located him that day. "Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk" (Acts 3:6).

God is eager to meet your needs than your wants. Do you really need what you are asking God for in prayer? Are you asking God for financial breakthrough so that you can sponsor the gospel and that the needy around you can be helped or you are asking so as to amass wealth for yourself? Scrutinise the motive behind your prayer and let it be for the purpose of being a blessing to His work and humanity. This is what guarantee speedy answers. Solomon in 2 Chronicles 1 had God's people in mind when he asked God for wisdom and God did not hesitate to answer him and even gave him what he did not ask.

PRAYER: Your desire to be blessed so as to bless others is granted today, in Jesus name.
