Numbers 21: 4-5.
Discouragement is a tool in the hand of the devil, to bring
down the children of God. The root cause of every suicide today is the enemy
called Discouragement. Discouragement
has no respect for title, name, or position. Discouragement, if not managed or
handled well, graduates
to depression. And depression grows into hypertension
and hypertension results to untimely death. That will not be your potion in
Jesus Name.
Nobody is discouraged when things are going on well. Every
discouragement comes because of the way things are. The Bible says “…… and the soul of the people was much
discouraged BECAUSE OF THE WAY” (Num. 21:4b). Why was their soul
discouraged? Because of the WAY THINGS
WERE. These are some of the things that will happen when discouragement comes.
It is an enemy of the soul, so guard against. When one is discouraged, the
danger is, he/she speaks against God. There is every tendencies that when you
are discouraged you will speak against God. The reason is because, the spirit
of discouragement will never let you see what God has done, but what He has not
done. When discouraged, you see everyone around you as a suspect. You are
downcast because it’s a sickness of the soul. When discouraged, you don’t appreciate
yourself or your gift. And until you appreciate yourself, nobody will
appreciate you. If you don’t appreciate yourself, you will depreciate.
When discouraged, you can’t hear from God. And if you cannot
hear from God, you will hear from self. When discouraged, you devalue yourself
and your gift. And until your gift is valuable to you, it will never be
valuable to others. When discouraged,
you will find yourself angry with everyone around you without any reason to be
angry. And the anger (wrath) of a man works not the righteousness of God (James
1:20). When you are discouraged, you don’t see any hope. And without hope,
faith loses its power to produce. The Bible says ‘Faith is a substance of
things hoped for……’ (Heb.11:1).
Without hope, faith cannot work. When discouraged, you will not remember all
your good days. And your good days ought to be a testimony for you in times of
discouragement.
When discouraged, you forget the glorious history of the
past and remember the ugly situation of the now. No wonder, Psalmist says in
Psalms 103:1-2 “BLESS the LORD, oh my
soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the LORD, oh my
soul, and forget not all His benefits. What helped David to overcome
discouragement is, he remembered the MANY THINGS that God has done than the FEW
THINGS He hasn’t done. (Psalms 40:5). Don’t let the present situation erase His
past blessings upon your life. Everyone passes through the valley of
discouragement, but what will take you up is when you remind yourself of His past
blessings. We shall be looking at the cure for discouragement in our next post.
I DECREE THAT EVERY PIT OF DISCOURAGEMENT YOU FIND YOURSELF, YOU ARE COMING OUT
IN NOW, JESUS NAME. AMEN.
The greatest antidote to discouragement is counting your blessings and falling back on GOD's unfailing word at all times. "... but David encouraged himself in the LORD- 1 Sam 30:6).
ReplyDeleteCount your blessings and it will surprise you what the LORD has done!
