TEXT: "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before" (Job 42:10)
Welcome to your week of testimonies. You will be visited this week by God Almighty and your life shall receive sudden transformation, in Jesus name. I want you to know that Jehovah God is eager to intervene in any situation that you find yourself in your journey in life. The reason why it seems God is far away and that He's not willing to intervene in your concerns is your lack of understanding. You need to know how to provoke Him to act. This has been our focus for some days now. The story of Job in today's anchor scripture is really a pathetic one. He lost everything he has in one day and he got twice of what he lost in one day too. But there's one secret I will like to introduce you to concerning this man Job. The secret is his intercession for his three friends.
The Bible says: "God turned the captivity of Job WHEN he prayed for his friends." How many times have you prayed for people that are going through similar issues as yours? Beloved, it is time to stop praying for yourself, your needs, your family and start to intercede for the needs of others, the oppressed, the sick, the prisoners, the sinners around you. Enough of this "me, mine, my and I" syndrome in your prayers and start to concentrate on other people's needs. If you engage this secret, you will be amazed how God will daze you with inexplainable and undeniable testimonies.
Another example is the story of Abraham. The Bible says: "So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children" (Gen 20:17). History has it that the story of Isaac’s birth was as result of Abraham’s prayer for Abimelek and his family. The implication is that when we pray for others, we often are rewarded with that same request. King Abimelek, his wife, and their female slaves were unable to have children because Abimelek took Sarah unknowingly to him that she was the wife of Abraham. But Abraham prayed for them, and they were able to conceive again. The next thing we hear about is the miracle of Isaac’s birth. By praying for others, Abraham had his deepest prayer answered too.
I read of a student who once approached his teacher with a question that we might all ask: "Does it work if a person prays for a friend only so that he himself will receive equal benefits? Though Abraham’s prayers were selfless and sincere but does it work when the prayer serves a selfish agenda?"
The teacher answered Yes. Then he explained that God is the source of all blessings. But there needs to be a channel that is able to bring God’s blessings into the world. One such channel is when we pray for others. When we pray, we connect ourselves to God but when we pray for a friend, we become the channel that connects our friend to God. So, when God sends down the requested blessings, we are inevitably filled with those same blessings too.
Beloved child of God, know that when we ask God to bless others, we are sure to be touched by the blessings as well. This is the secret that brought Job's supernatural restoration and opened Sarah's womb for Isaac to be born.
Go and do likewise!
PRAYER: As you pray for the kingdom of God to expand and the needs of other people, your needs shall be supplied supernaturally this week, in Jesus name.
