TEXT: "When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid" (1Sam 17:11)

They were greatly afraid? No wonder God could not show up for them if not for David, the shepherd boy. Beloved, the environment you create determines God's intervention in your life or not. Just as fish cannot survive on land so also God's Presence cannot survive in an environment where fear is dominant. Just the same way murmuring and complaining drive away the presence of God so also is fear. I define fear as having confidence in what the devil says than what God says. If your confidence in God is not intact, God will not show up for you. So, you see the reason why so many people cannot experience God's intervention in spite of their cries and shouts and fat Bibles.

In today's anchor scripture is the story of how the army of Israel hindered God due to the spirit of fear that was dominant in their lives. Fear is a spirit. It is an enemy of divine intervention. Fear is of the devil, not from God. The Bible says: "God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, of love and of a sound mind" (2Tim 1:7). When you find yourself living in fear, it means God is absent in your life. Fear of unknown, fear of failure, fear of poverty, etc, keeps man in bondage and shuts God completely out of his reach. God shows up for you when your confidence in Him is demonstrated.

This was the case with the small David. He demonstrated his confidence in God and got the head of Goliath cheaply. "David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine..." (vs 37). Wow! This statement can only come from a heart that is full of God. Do you want to get down the head of your enemies this year? Your confidence in God is the key. Do you want to be victorious always? Be confident in God "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward" (Heb. 10:35).

Please note that it is your confidence in God and not in your bank account, your connection, your uncle or your parents.

PRAYER: As you demonstrate your confidence in God, He will reward you with unending testimonies of sudden turnarounds, in Jesus name!
