Matthew 11:28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

I want to start this morning by saying as believers, we must know and realize that there is no rest outside God. Money, fame, material possession, connection, position, etc, does not
guarantee absolute rest. In this month of All round Rest, you must come to terms that this rest is only possible in Christ.

Jesus said "I will give you rest when you come to me." You can only promise to give what you have. Jesus has the rest in full to give as many that would come. He has accomplished all on our behalf. However, He will not force the rest on us. It takes our willingness to surrender to Him to enjoy absolute rest. 1Peter 5:7 says: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

This is not the kind of rest as in sleep or in death, it is referring to spiritual rest, meaning to come to a relaxed attitude of trust. It is not necessarily a rest from activity; it is a rest in activity. We still work and do things. We still fulfill our responsibilities and put forth the necessary effort where it is required but it is anxiety free.

Jesus, as our Substitute, has worked all the works of God. It is our rest of faith in His grace for all of God’s provisions and all He has done that is actually true rest.

PRAYER: Confess this to yourself now: "Father, I choose to rest in you from today, in Jesus name."
