Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."

Before I point out the purpose of power in today's text, I want to say this without reservation that the greatest enemy of man today is
RELIGION. Religion lacks power. Religion only has the form of godliness but denies the power. Religion has blinded so many in today's Church. They have settled down with it that it is difficult if not impossible for them to be led by the Spirit of God.

Apostle Paul described the religious as having the form of godliness but deny the power thereof (2Tim 3:5). The people that Jesus found difficult to relate with in His days were not sinners, but religious people. The truth is, Satan is behind it. Satan knows that as long as he can make you religious, he can control you. This was what happened to Paul until he met Christ on his way to Damascus. He was on his way to carry out religious activity.

Beloved, Christianity is not a religion, Christianity is life. Jesus says "...I have come that you might have LIFE" (Jn 10:10b). Religion lacks power. Seeing the way they were displaying power and boldness over the power of darkness in Antioch, the people said, this must be Christians. They were called Christians because they saw something extraordinary in them, and of course, what they saw was power.

Now, if Christianity is of power, then, one must find out from the pages of scriptures what that power is meant for. Today's text reveals that another purpose of power is to dominate the power of darkness. As one who carries power, you are meant to tread on sicknesses, diseases, bareness, failure, joblessness, backwardness, etc. If you lack the power to dominate these, they will dominate you. That won't be you in Jesus Name.

PRAYER: Receive power to dominate the powers of darkness in and around you, in Jesus Name!
