TEXT: "But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." (1Tim 6:6-7)
It's another week that the Lord shall perfect all that concerns you, a week your labour shall be compensated with high favour and your life will be flooded with undeniable testimonies, in Jesus name.
I want us to examine another enemy of praise as we proceed with the hindrances to profitable praise. This is important because what you don't know is bigger than you. Knowinf these hindrances will help us to avoid them.
3. DISCONTENTMENT
Discontentment is an enemy of profitable praise. When I say profitable praise I mean praise that produces result. Your praise cannot produce result if this enemy is not dealt with. Discontentment is a lack of satisfaction with one's possessions, status, or level in life. When you are not satisfied with the level and the pace at which God is taking you in life, it will hinder the flow of genuine praise in your heart. Discontentment leads to downfall of a man because behind every discontentment is pride.
Yes, discontentment is a manifestation of pride. It flows from a heart that says, "I deserve better than what God has given me." This was the original sin of Satan himself. In the book of Jude, we have a record of angels who, like Satan, were not contented to be the servants of God. The Bible says "they kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation" (Jude 6). Pride led the angels to say, "We deserve better than what God has given to us." God gave them positions of authority, but they were not contented. One man of God said: "The devil is the proudest creature and the most discontented because pride and discontentment lodge under one roof."
Don't compare yourself with anyone else if you don't want to live a discontented life. Don't crave for a car or a house because someone else has one. Be satisfied with God at every stage of your life. Stop competing with people of the world; they don't worth competing with. The Bible says: But godliness with contentment is great gain (1Tim 6:6).
People are rating the worth and quality of life with physical possessions. This is unscriptural. Contentment is the cure for covetousness. Put an end to it today in your life. Learn from the story of the Israelites who grumbled because, rather than concentrate on what God was doing, they concentrated on what they thought God wasn’t doing! This is a trick of the devil to rob one of genuine praise. Don't fall victim of this trap!
PRAYER: I pray that your eyes be opened to what God is doing in your life so as to give Him quality praise to match in Jesus name!
DAILY CONFESSION: This year 2022, I am more than conqueror by the Power of the Holy Spirit therefore I shall continue to celebrate all through the year, hallelujah!
