TEXT: “Dear brothers and sisters, honor those who are your leaders in the Lord's work. They work hard among you and warn you against all that is wrong.” (1Thes 5:12 NLT)
If you will enjoy divine honour, learn to honour and respect servants of God that you come across. This is an area that needs serious correction in the lives of many believers today. I often wonder when I see some Christians on social media making insultive/destructive comments about servants of God. It becomes more worrisome when servants of God castigate themselves in the public. Hear me, it is never acceptable for you to criticize, gossip or make destructive remarks about servants of God in the public or private as these acts are in direct disobedience to the Word of God.
Today's anchor scripture says that the reason we should not engage in this devilish act is that: “They work hard among you and warn you against all that is wrong." Verse 13 says: "Think highly of them and give them your wholehearted love because they are straining to help you." God didn't say His servants will be perfect just as none of us is, He tells us to honour them out of our obedience to Him and not based on their behaviour. To honour the servants of God means:
1. Don't speak critically of them in public or in private.
2. Don't talk or browse with your phone while they are preaching.
3. If you notice a need, meet it, don't use it as an opportunity look down on them.
4. Recognize them on their birthdays.
If you're guilty, repent and begin to honour the servants of God that He brings your way from today.
PRAYER: I pray for you that honour us in this assignment, you shall not lack honour the remaining days of your life, in Jesus name.
