Psalm 59:10 "The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies." 

Every blessing of the kingdom lives us with benefits. What is the fifth benefit of the mercy of God as we continue on that today?

5. Restoration. The mercy of God grants us restoration. His mercy restores us to lost positions and restores to us what we’ve lost. The mercy of the father of the prodigal son towards him restored him to sonship. He had admitted that he was not worthy to be called his father’s son again. He only wanted to be made one of his servants but the father had compassion on him, forgave him, and welcomed him back home, not as a servant, but as a son.

“And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight...But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet...for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry” (Luke 15:20-24 NKJV).

I love God most for His ability to restore. He restores us to a right relationship with him through the gift of forgiveness and justification. He is able also to restore earthly relationships. And he can even restore days and years that have been lost to the effects of sin (Joel 2:25). That is the greatest evidence of the nature of God’s mercy. Not only can He renew a life, but He can also redeem its past.

PRAYER: I pray that, by His mercy, the Lord will restore double to you all that you’ve lost, in Jesus name.
