Eccl 7:6 "For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool."
The anchor scripture today pictures a pot hanging over a fire, with thorns burning under it, making a crackling noise.
The thorns crackle as they burn, then they are consumed, and there is nothing left. The laughter of a fool is like that. A fool is miserable even while he is laughing. After his fun and laughter is over, he is empty and dead. This is because something is missing in his life. Many young people today go for clubbing, get drunk so as to be happy. But they don't understand the portion of the Bible that says, "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that joy is heaviness" (Prov 14:13).
Beloved, the loneliest and miserable person in the world today is the one who doesn't know Jesus. When your friends leave, there is no one to talk to you and comfort you. When problems happen, there is no one to help you. When death strikes suddenly there is no one to go with you. When judgment falls there is no one to stand up for you and defend you. The laughter of a fool does not last. Depression, despair, and loneliness haunt such people throughout their life.
My dear, that's the way it is in life. You can be laughing today, and filled with depression tomorrow. "For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool" (Eccl 7:6). "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that joy is heaviness" (Prov 14:13). Pls, surrender your life to Jesus today if you haven't so as to experience lasting laughter.
PRAYER: You will not end your journey in hell, in Jesus name.
