"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 1:9).
"There nothing is new under the sun." You may wonder if that Bible verse is realistic, at least, this is a new year. But the mystery you need to know is that nothing, absolutely nothing, is new under the sun; not even the new year or new marriage, new job, new car, new house or new location. This year 2013 Calendar is the same with 2002, 1991, 1985, 1974, 1963, 1957, 1946, 1935, 1929 and 1918.There is no new year under the sun, it is only
new calendars of another year. Life under the sun is life without God's influence or control, a natural life controlled by oneself, it's life in sin. The worst part of it is that you can be a Christian, a church leader, even a minister, and still live under the sun.
When you are living at your will without God's control, you are living under the sun; you don't care about giving your life to Jesus, you do what you like and when you like, or you are a religious person of any religion - you are living under the sun. You may also be a Christian, living in sin or rising and falling into sin, you are living under the sun. You may be a good person naturally, you may be a devoted Christian but as long you still live in your old sinful habit - it doesn't matter if it is just minor sin, many sins, most sins; it doesn't matter if it is a single habit, simple sin or serious ones. Life under the sun is same old and boring life, nothing new can happen to you under the sun, not even a single thing is new under the sun, what a miserably tedious life!
But there is a good news of a better life - life under the Son, that is the Son of God, JESUS CHRIST; under Him, everything is new. When you fully surrender your old sinful to Jesus in repentance of forsaking all sins, then you start a brand new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Until you experience this, you are still living a miserable old life; until you experience 2 Corinthians 5:17 in your Christian life, that people around you can testify, you are a fake Christian who still lives in same or some old life. "behold, all things have become new." that is life under the Son of God, ALL THINGS ARE NEW! Life under Jesus Christ is not just new every year but it's new every morning.
Nothing can give you new thing under the sun except the Son of God, everything under the sun is vanity on vanity. You cannot have a real new year in same old life of sin, until you start a new life in JESUS CHRIST. You need to repent of all sins, no matter how small or how long you have even been a Christian; you need to be ready to do away with all sins, then confess them to Jesus and ask Him to forgive and cleanse you. There is no better way to start this year than to start afresh with Jesus Christ for fresh air into your life.
