CAUSES OF DELAY

John 5:1-9.

            Why our miracles are seemed delayed today? God who specializes in miracle is a God of the now. Miracles are real today as in olden days. Where this man in our text spent good 38 years, there were people who must have come in a day, got what they wanted and left. It was not God’s making for him to spend such years; it was definitely his own making. We can ascertain this truth from the statement he made when Jesus met him. Delay is dangerous and it’s Satan’s trick to give us false hopes in God. God can do now what He can do in 5 years from now. The appointed time for your miracle is now. Jesus is not coming to die again; the full price for your miracles has been paid. If the price of a good is paid in full on your behalf, then, the delivery of the good is depended on you and not the person that paid. Our miracles have been fully paid for. You must be ready to take the delivery of your own now. If it delays God is not responsible for it but you.

                The beginning of your miracle is for you to have the consciousness that any time you appear before God in any church service you have come to meet God who has solutions to all problems. Many allow the short-comings of their leaders to rub them of their miracles, why? Because they don’t have expectations of anything while in church. But you must remember that “Expectation is the mother of any Manifestation” Familiarity is dangerous. It hinders someone’s miracles.  Jesus could not do any miracle in His home town because of familiarity (Matt.13:54-58). Familiarity blinds your eyes towards the channels through which your miracle could flow.

There are three (3) attitudes that the Holy Ghost opened my eyes to see which caused the delay of this man’s miracle. We shall be exploring them in this write-up so as to help every reader to avoid them. The scripture is written for our learning. What are these three attitudes?

·         I HAVE NO MAN – Verse 7: When Jesus asked the lame man as to whether he wanted to be healed, his response was “I have no man” He disqualified himself even before the master of solution. Many of us are like this man today. When you ask them why things are not moving the way it should be or why are they not given that job? Their response would be “I don’t have someone who will help me out. That brother/sister is having an Uncle in that office but I don’t have anybody. I don’t have anybody who could give me the money I need to start up that business” We can go on and on. You must know that your success in life is not depended on who you know or who you have but on God you know and have. It takes God for anything to be done for your favour. Except God favours you, man will not do so. Jesus and Samuel in the Bible were said to have favour with GOD and MAN. Stop disqualifying yourself that you have no one to help you. God is your Helper (Psalms 121:1).

·         HE FAILED TO INVITE AN HELPER: Do you agree with me that the same man could have as well invited someone to help him out while the water is troubled. But he kept it to himself. The solution you need may not be far away, it may lie in that person close to you which you kept in the dark about your problem. They say “A problem shared is half –solved” Some failed to relate their problems to others because of pride. You will recall the Bible says we should bear one another’s burden. The burdens that will be born are the burdens that are shared. Don’t pretend that all is well while dying inside. That man/woman or that Pastor may be the channels to your expected miracle.

·         SELF-DEPENDENCE – Verse 7: “But while I am trying another jumped in before me” (NIV). Many are trying to figure things out by themselves. God never wanted you to depend on self. He said casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you (1Pet. 5:7). Trying to solve your problems all by yourself outside God is the leading of the flesh. And God abhor self-glorification. He said in the scripture “My glory will I share with no man” (Isaiah 48:9-11). Hand over your case to God and see Him performing wonders on your behalf. Learn from the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5. As long as she kept trying, there was no solution. But as soon as she surrendered to God completely, her miracle showed up. Your miracle will show up today IN JESUS NAME. Say this short prayer after me: Father I surrender all to you today, I am sorry to keep you away from my problems and needs. I realize that I can’t help myself, come and help me from today. Every yoke of delay is broken today in my life IN JESUS NAME. AMEN.
