WORD FOR THE DAY:PATIENTLY WAIT

“… so be patient, brethren, (as you wait) till the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land. (See how) he keeps up his patient (vigil) over it until it receives the early and late rain. (James 5: 7) (Amp).
Impatience is the fruit of pride. A proud person cannot seem to wait for anything with the proper attitude. The scripture above doesn’t say “be patient if you wait” it says “be patient as you wait”. Waiting is part of life. Many of us
don’t wait well, yet we actually spend more time in our lives waiting than we do receiving.
A lot of people while waiting for the promises of God fail to be patient. Patience and waiting are two different things though they work together. One can’t do without the other. What then is their similarity?
Patience is not only the ability to wait for God’s promises but the ability to put up a right attitude while waiting. What we actually call patience is not it. No wonder Psalmist added patience to qualify his waiting. “I waited patiently for the LORD,” (Psalm 40: 1).
Waiting without patience is a fruit of pride. To be an achiever, you must learn how to wait patiently on the Lord. It’s impossible to enjoy waiting if you don’t know how to wait patiently.

TO BE PATIENT WHILE WAITING

There are things that helps us put up a positive look even in the face of negative circumstances. We shall see only 2 in this edition.
1.       HOPE IN THE LORD -1Pet 1 : 13
Don’t allow the devil to steal your hope while waiting for that promise. Hope is the expectation of something desired.
If your expectation for that promise is strong, it helps you to be positive.
2.       FIX THE PROBLEM, DON’T FIX THE BLAME –James 5 : 8-9
When you don’t blame anybody or even yourself for your predicament, it helps you to be focused and positive. Don’t see anyone or even yourself behind your problem. Remember Romans 8 :28 says “all things work together for your good …” All things includes even your mistakes. God is working things out of that problem. Abram did not blame Sarai his wife for the delay in conception. It shows that he was patient while waiting for the promise of a son. Romans 4:18 – 22. God bless you as you wait patiently.
